Guns. People fight with, over, and for them. They help save lives or they can end them tragically. They can defend freedom or enforce oppression. And here in America we have a unique culture involving them.
We believe that people have the right to own guns, but that’s where the split is. We cannot unite behind one single idea about what can be done to help reduce gun violence. Some say to have no restrictions, some say we should follow the example of the U.K. and ban all firearms.
These ideas are rather polarized, and relatively few people support these extremes. The first idea opens the door for mass murder and uncontrollable violence, while the second deprives the people of an important right to be able to protect themselves from anyone who intends to do them harm. There are so many opposing viewpoints. The problem is finding the middle ground, where our rights are not infringed but, at the same time, we do not allow needless violence, murder, and crime.
In this blog, we will attempt to analyze this problem and suggest several possible solutions that we believe may provide solutions to the problem in our country.
We will be looking at this problem from several different angles, and from some opposing viewpoints, and we hope that we will be able to give you a good idea as to which ideas there are out there and a few options to choose for your own personal research.
We begin by defining the problem as we see it:

What are assault weapons? What legislation will help gun violence? Will legislation at all help? What can we do to prevent these problems? How do we lower gun violence without removing the peoples’ right to defend themselves? We discuss here topics that we believe may offer some relief to the problem.
